Ten times in the book of Mathew we see this phrase "Son of David"
Call upon His name
Shalom my friends and fellow prayer warriors. I am writing this article today under the inspiration that came yesterday as a result of our experience yesterday. Linda and I have been looking after a prayer house in Jerusalem called "Apple of His Eye", and it has been an honor and at times a challenge trying to walk this out. But yesterday morning we awoke to discover that the apartment had been broken into over night and that all of our money had been stolen while we were in the bedroom asleep. At first we were in great shock and then came the sinking feeling of having all of our money stolen that we just brought back from north America. This was the money we were to live on for the coming season of time. Some of the first statements out of our mouths were,"that's it I am not staying here anymore" and "how are we going to do it now"?
As Linda looked through her purse she discovered that also a piece of recently purchased jewelry was missing, a Star of David which had colorful stones set in Stirling silver. And it just stirred the memories of so many times in the past year of our car being vandalized and stolen from on the same street outside of the prayer house. The prayer house is on the very edge of East Jerusalem which is predominantly an Arab community, and looks out at the Old City of Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives. The Lord knows we have been praying for their salvation for several years and are believing the Lord is and will answer those prayers mightily. I could list several incidents of vandalism and break-ins in our area by Arab youth, which only confirms our need to continue to pray for an outpouring of God's love on our neighbors.
Forgiveness
But then came the stirring of the Holy Spirit in my inner most being and I immediately began to declare forgiveness to our enemies. Even though my mind was so keenly focused on our immediate great loss, my spirit man knew that we need to trust in the word of the Lord as this verse was being echoed " And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. And so we reported the break in to discover the police were not even interested in coming to investigate. And we ultimately drove up to our place in the Galilee. And were able to join with Karen (the visionary for the Apple of His Eye prayer houses both in Jerusalem and in the Galilee), and have a time of prayer and worship. As we worshipped and prayed both Linda and I became more and more encouraged. We could see how the enemy was working through this event to bring discouragement and fear, which was what prompted us to consider a retreat and to run from the God given assignment and home.
Seeing the Evil Devises of satan
But then this morning after a good nights sleep in the Galilee Linda was counting the food coupons that were not stolen out of her purse yesterday. These coupons were provided by a ministry in Georgia to help feed the poor here amongst the body of Messiah, and we were thanking God the thief did not take them also. But then to our surprise Linda discovered that the missing piece of jewelery (Star of David) was taken out of one zipper in her purse and was dropped into the envelope with the food coupons. And when she showed this to me the Lord began to speak to me. Saying I Am your shield and your strong tower (Psalm 61:3). And WOW as I was typing this very moment our apartment building began to shake and sway from an earth quake (11:52 am local time) this is the third earth quake in four days here in the Galilee and all three were centered on the Sea of Galilee. I truly believe the Lord is speaking to us the body of Messiah. I am including here in this article another confirmation that came to me this morning from a dear prophetic sister (Tikkun) in the Lord in Jerusalem. She in her article is reviewing for our understanding of how the enemy works to bring fear and discouragement to God's people, so that they won't labor in faith and prayer crying out in anguish to the Lord to save His people and our land Israel. Friends we are no doubt in the "last days" and we cannot continue to allow the enemy to bring fear and discouragement into our lives. Linda and I are headed back to Jerusalem tomorrow and will chose to stand in faith rather than fear. Faith in what the Lord has spoken to us in His word (the scriptures). Please pray for us and Israel, but also the body of Messiah around the world. We MUST stand on God's promises and word in these days, for our own salvation as well as our very enemies souls. I know this article is a bit lengthy, but please you need to hear what the spirit is saying to us all at this time. And press into a place of prayer where we truely can stand in the gap for those who are perishing with Messiah Yeshua in their lives. “Where can we go? Our brothers discouraged us when they said that the people are bigger and taller than we are. Their cities are tall and fortified to the sky, and we also saw the Anakim there.' "Then I told you, 'Don't be terrified or afraid of them. The LORD your God is the One who will be going ahead of you. He'll fight for you just as he did in Egypt before your eyes. In the desert you saw that the LORD carried you like a man carries his son, on every road you traveled until you reached this place.' Deu 1:28-31
This portion of scripture is so pertinent for us today. Islamic neighbors, who want to destroy and to steal her Land, surround little Israel. These enemies are vast in number, and loom large in international influence. In addition, we have enemies operating within Israel’s own borders … and they too are loud and call for Israel’s demise in one way or another. Look what is says in verse 28 above: Our brethren have made our hearts melt, saying, “The people are bigger and taller than we; the cities are large and fortified to heaven. The left-wing, Jewish, Israelis (politicians, media, and regular citizens) have said that we need to submit to the demands of the Palestinians, because our opposition is too great. They tell us that we can’t win, or even survive if we resist, because the Palestinians are endorsed by the rest of the nations as a just cause. They claim that we are losing international credibility, and will eventually lose all favor and support. They say that we are being overwhelmed in numbers by the birth rate of the Arabs. This is factually not true. In essence some of our own people are saying things in an attempt to make our hearts melt in fear, so that we will give way to acquiescence. The final dread, in verse 28, is the mention that the Anakim are in the Land. What are the Anakim?
The Anakim are the descendants of Anak. They were giant people, who lived in the area of Hebron and in the territory of the Philistines, at the time when the Israelite s approached the Promised Land to possess it. (see Josh. 11:21, Num. 13:33, Deut. 9:2). Surely, the Palestinians, currently living in this same geographical area would like to project that they are hugely invincible as well. If you believe that you can’t win, chances are you won’t try. The lies of the Palestinians, which are being spewed to the nations, intend to deceive those nations, as well as to discourage the Jews. Surely, there is a constant abundance of threatening decrees and declarations from the Palestinian leadership; intending to terrify the Jews. If their threats don’t terrify the Jews, they hope that their lies will cause them to bend under a sense of false guilt.
Interestingly, Anak is also the ancient word for NECK. Consider how that applies. The neck supports the head through the presence of stacked vertebrae holding the head in the proper position. The neck is also the conduit, which contains the nerves and the blood vessels to the head … vital for keeping the brain (and subsequently the body) alive. If you want to kill someone, the neck is the vulnerable, easily accessible, place to attack. The Muslims are well known for beheading their enemies by attacking the neck; separating the head from the body, bringing instant death. Think about it! Those, who are trying to project the power of the Anakim are again trying to disconnect the Jews from their inheritance and to take their lives.
Compared to the Lord, these enemies certainly are not giants. However, the negative report of our left- wing members of the Jewish community have brought forth the expectation that these threatening enemies are too big for us … so, therefore, we need to yield to their demands, and to withdraw from our land. These nations want Israel to fear them as the Anakim so much, that we will whither and fall into their hands; giving our enemies exactly what they want … causing us to disobey YHVH’s orders to possess and to occupy our inheritance from Him. We need to hear the voices of our present day Joshua and Caleb.
Additionally, Israel MUST truly see and understand what is written in the rest of this portion of scripture. YHVH said to the Jews then, and He is saying to us now:
--“Do not be shocked, nor fear them.” (i.e., don’t be overwhelmed or intimidated by their size, nor by the power of their threatening words or weapons)
--“I, the Lord your God, goes before you, and I will fight on your behalf.”
--“You have seen how I preserved you and gave you great victories against Egypt (and against all your enemies in the previous wars)”
--“ I have carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way, which you have walked until you came to this place.”
Right now, YHVH is saying to us, “Don’t fear Hamas, the PLO, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Russia, the USA, the UN, the EU, any Islamic terrorist, etc.
Trust in Me! Look at what I have done for you since the moment I brought you back into this Land. See how I have carried you … how I have built you up, and how I have sustained you. I am greater than the Anakim! Don’t look at their size, nor listen to their threats. Believe and obey! POSSESS THE LAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN YOU!”
